Blazers fall in 5 close games

In a match that was extremely tight the entire distance, New Life Christian pulled out a 3-2 victory over the Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers Tuesday in a Mason-Dixon Christian Conference girls volleyball match.

New Life won the first game 25-22 before the Blazers stormed back to take the next two games, 25-20 and 25-19. New Life pulled out victories of 25-20 and 15-12 in the final two games to emerge with the match win.

“Tonight was a fight for us,” Blazers coach Carole Rosenberry said. “We started a little sluggish in game one then turned it around and won sets 2 and 3, but we weren’t quite able to pull out the win. Regan Bard did a great job setting tonight and had 31 assists. Ryleigh Timmons had 16 digs and passed a high of 75% to target.”

Also for the Blazers (5-3, 4-2 MDCC), Morgan Householder had six kills and seven digs, Kerri Potteiger added eight digs, Emilee Beam contributed 12 kills and 11 digs, Timmons and Olivia Russell had three aces each, Niki Schussler registered seven kills, and Regan Bard had four kills, three digs and three blocks.

The Blazers won the JV game 2-0.
