Warfordsburg, Pa. – Southern Fulton (6-10, 6-7 ICC) dropped a double header to Everett 3 to 1 in the first game and 5 to 1 in the nightcap. Everett’s Macen Akers lined out in the seventh, driving in a run to break a 1 to 1 tie. Colton Souders tied the game at 1 in the fourth with a solo home run for the Indians. Both pitchers threw well with Jared College picking up the win for the Warriors, striking out 11 and walking 1. Dylan Melton was tagged with the loss, allowing 5 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 3.
In the nightcap, Everett broke open a 1 to 1 tie in the sixth by scoring three runs and holding on for a 5 to 1 victory. Trenton Mellott threw a complete game to get the win giving up 1 run on 6 hits. Luke Fitz went 5 innings for the Indians and took the loss. Fitz went 2 for 3 from the plate to lead Southern Fulton. The Indians will travel to Fannett Metal on Monday for a 4:30 start.
Forbes Road 13 Tussey Mt. 6
Waterfall, Pa. – Forbes Road jumped out to a 10-1 lead through two innings and rode that early offense to an ICC South victory at home. The Cardinals led 4-1 after one inning by virtue of three hits and a walk, sandwiched around a key wild pitch and an error. The hosts added six runs in the second, taking advantage of four hits and three errors before Tussey could stop the scoring. Tussey rallied for one run in the third and four in the fourth, closing the score to 10-6 before Forbes Road could regain the momentum. Two Cardinal tallies in the fifth and one more in the sixth set the final score at 13-6. Forbes Road collected 11 hits on the day, as each starter recorded at least one hit. Caleb Voegel (2-4) and Matt Clippinger (2-3) had multi-hit games. Ethan Wright and Levi Truax finished with 3 RBIs each. Four Cardinal hurlers combined for the victory, surrendering 10 hits and 4 walks, while striking out 14 Titan hitters. Kole Kendall collected the pitching victory. Forbes Road (8-5, 6-5 ICC) returns to action Monday, visiting Hyndman.
Fannett Metal 6 McConnellsburg 3
McConnellsburg, Pa. – Fannett Metal (6-11, 3-10 ICC) visited McConnellsburg (3-10, 3-9 ICC) last night in an ICC matchup and came away with a 6-3 victory. The Tigers scored all six runs in the 2nd inning. Rylin Sharar led off the 2nd inning with a single followed by a double from Colton Friese. Three straight walks to Derek Rebuck, Hunter Hill and Luke Coffman forced in the first two runs. Kyler Goshorn hit a sacrifice fly to plate Rebuck. Frankie Ryder followed with an RBI single to score Hill. Wyatt Appleby then delivered a two out, two RBI single to score both Coffman and Ryder. In the 3rd inning, McConnellsburg loaded the bases and scored a pair of runs. The Spartans threatened again in the 5th but Tiger Starter Kyler Goshorn worked his way out of the jam. Dalton Garlock hit a solo home run in the 7th to make it 6-3. Kyler Goshorn pitched 6 2/3 innings before reaching his pitch limit. Rylin Sharar came in and threw to one batter to record the save. Wes Brunner started for the Spartans but was relieved in the second inning by Colton Mellott. Brunner took the loss. FM Coach Paul Coffman commented, “Kyler pitched a good game today. He worked through some adversity and limited the damage in the 3rd inning. Our defense was solid behind him today. This was a great team win.” The Spartans were led offensively by Dalton Garlock (3 for 3, HR). Kolby Brown added a double. The Tigers recorded (8) hits in the game led by Rylin Sharar and Colton Friese who both had a pair of hits. The Tigers host Southern Fulton on Monday for senior night at 4:30. McConnellsburg will travel to Forbes Road on Wednesday for a 4:30 start.
