Softball Roundup 4/29/19 Fulton/FM

Fannett Metal 9 Big Spring 8

Willow Hill, Pa. – Fannett Metal (10-3) hosted Big Spring in a non-conference matchup. The Lady Tigers went down 5-0 after 2 innings and 7-0 headed into the bottom of the 5th. The bats, then, came alive for the Tigers, scoring 4 runs on consecutive hits by Morgan Ritchey (double), Jamie Adams (single), Klarissa Miley (single) and Jade Rhodes, who finished with a homerun. After holding the Bulldogs scoreless in the top of the sixth, the bats came back around in the bottom of the sixth for the Tigers. Combining a couple of hits with a couple of walks by the end of the sixth inning, the Tigers had a 9-7 lead. Freshman Klarissa Miley pitched a complete game, staying focused, even when her defense let her down at times. She gave up a total of 8 runs, but only 3 were earned.  Every time the Tigers made an error, they tended to come back with an outstanding defensive play to keep them in the game. Jamie Adams had two hits and scored two runs. Klarissa Miley had a perfect day at the plate with one hit, three walks and two RBIs. Jade Rhodes added a single with her home run  and totaled two RBIs. During the game, Morgan Ritchey picked up her career walk number 57 and 58, which is now a new all-time school record for walks. Fannett Metal will host Forbes Road tomorrow at 4:30. 

Clear Spring 11 Southern Fulton 1

Clear Spring, Md. – Southern Fulton (4-8) traveled to Clear Spring and lost to the Blazers 11-1 in 5 innings in a non league contest. Hailee strait was 1-2 with the lone Indians RBI. Kylie Golden was 1-2 and scored a run. Golden was tagged with the loss. Grulee got the win for Clear Spring. Southern Fulton will host Everett on Thursday for a double header.

Mount Union 13 McConnellsburg 7

Mount Union, Pa. – McConnellsburg (6-8) traveled to Mount Union and fell to the Trojans 13 to 7 in a non league matchup. Destiny Hall led the Spartans going 3 for 3 from the plate. Kylie Garland and Karah Stiffler added 2 hits each. Mount Union outhit McConnellsburg 16 to 9. Makenna Shields homered twice for the home squad. Spartan Coach Dana Winters commented, “The girls hit the ball well. We had 5 errors and we need to cut that number down .” McConnellsburg travels to Everett today (4/30) to take on the Warriors at 4:30.
