Chambersburg 11, Waynesboro 1: The Trojans struck for five runs in the second inning and six more in the fifth to defeat Waynesboro 11-1 in a five-inning non-league game at Norlo Park on Monday afternoon.
Chambersburg coach Chris Skultety said, “We played very poorly over the weekend and got served a couple of pieces of humble pie. But I love the way the girls said enough was enough and showed up today.
“We read an article (about Waynesboro) that gave us a little motivation, and I think this was our most complete game this year — pitching, hitting, defense and base running were all on today.”
Mackenzie Stake went the distance and limited the Maidens (9-4) to just five hits, including two by Mac Miller. She struck out six and walked two.
For the Trojans (12-3) Haiden Brookens had three RBIs, Haley Privett was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs knocked in, Kirsten Johnson was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and Alyssa Wenger also had two runs batted in.
Saturday at the Big Spring Tournament, Chambersburg fell 11-0 to West Perry in the first round as the Mustangs got a pair of home runs from Tiarra Johnson.
In the consolation semifinals, Shippensburg edged the Trojans 4-3. Chambersburg did not score after having the bases loaded and no outs in the fifth inning against Lady Hound pitcher Emily Wenner.
In the game for seventh place, Taylor Myers singled to give her 100 career hits for Chambersburg as a junior in an 11-6 win over Red Lion. Katie Robinson knocked in three runs, Wenger, Brookens and Johnson each had two hits and Erin Pattillo got the win with three innings of two-hit relief.

Waynesboro 1, Chambersburg 0: The Indians scored the game’s only run in the sixth inning on an overthrow by the Chambersburg defense to win a non-league pitching duel Monday.
Trojan pitcher Hunter Stevens pitched a fine game, going six innings, giving up just two hits and four walks, and striking out two. He threw only 82 pitches.
Waynesboro’s Wyatt Freeman was also strong on the mound, going 6.2 innings and allowing five hits, striking out eight and walking two. Hunter Clever rang up a strikeout for the game’s final out.
Chambersburg (1-14) has lost nine straight games, including the last three by just one run each. The Indians (14-2) are ranked No. 6 in the District 3 6A rankings.
Brady Hughes was 2-for-3 for the Trojans, and Orlian Roman Reyes, Stevens and Bryson Byers each hit singles.
