Southern Huntingdon 11 Forbes Road 4

Waterfall, Pa. – Southern Huntingdon completed the season sweep of Forbes Road, breaking open a one run game with a six run fifth inning.  Mason Smith’s grand slam highlighted the Rockets’ big inning.  Smith also collected the pitching victory in relief of starter Josh Fleck.  Forbes Road managed just five hits on the evening.  Ethan Wright (2-3) led the Cardinal offense.  Forbes Road (4-4, 3-4 ICC) returns to action on Tuesday, hosting Northern Bedford.

Fannett Metal 6 Northern Bedford 5 (10 innings)

Willow Hill, Pa. – Fannett Metal (2-7, 1-6 ICC) hosted NBC tonight and won 6-5 in 10 innings.  In the 10th, NBC scored a run to take a 5-4 lead.  In the bottom of the inning, the Tigers loaded the bases on three straight one out walks.  After a fly out, Frankie Ryder delivered the two out, two run, walk off single to score Wes Moats and Hunter Hill with the game winner.  “We battled the entire game.  Everyone contributed in some way to this win tonight.”

Kyler Goshorn threw 6 2/3 innings to start the game.  He gave up five hits and two earned runs.  Wyatt Appleby pitched the final 3 1/3 innings to get the win.  “Both pitchers threw well tonight and we made several plays defensively behind them.” 

Leading the Tigers offensively were Kyler Goshorn with three hits and two runs scored, Frankie Ryder with two hits and three RBIs.  Wyatt Appleby had a pair of RBIs and Billy Peppernick had an RBI as well.  The Tigers host Shade on Monday at 4:30. 

Southern Fulton 9 McConnellsburg 6

Warfordsburg, Pa. – Southern Fulton (5-5, 5-3 ICC) hosted county and league rival McConnellsburg (2-7, 2-7 ICC) and earned a 9 to 6 victory. Dylan Melton’s double in the sixth inning broke a 6-6 tie for the win. The Spartans out hit the Indians 7 to 3 including a home run by Zander Sipes. Walter Funk and Sipes had 2 hits a piece for McConnellsburg. Luke Fitz picked up the win Southern Fulton, while Sipes was tagged with the loss. Southern Fulton is scheduled to travel to Southern Huntingdon on Tuesday at 4:30, while McConnellsburg travels to Tussey Mt. on Wednesday at 4:30.
