YORK — Chambersburg took part in the Central York boys volleyball tournament on Saturday, reaching the playoffs, but not advancing past the first round.
“Trojan coach Marta Helfrick said, “It was a long day with some shining moments, but we’re still working toward being mentally and physically consistent as a team. There is still room for growth going into this week and the second round of league matches.”
In pool play, Chambersburg lost 2-0 to Hempfield (25-23, 26-24), beat Montour 2-0 (25-13, 25-12), split with Cumberland Valley (24-26, 26-24) and swept Dallastown 2-0 (25-16, 26-24).
In the playoffs, York Suburban eliminated the Trojans, 25-21.
Jaylen Thomas had 14 kills (hitting .636, 14-for-22), six block kills and 11 blocks. Josiah Picard led the team with 16 kills, Steven Swain had 14, Riley Laite 13 and William Simmers 11. Simmers also had six block kills.
Spencer Rajtik came up with 33 assists and Trey Stepler added 25. Digs leaders were Wes Newman (30), Picard (23) and Swain (19).
In serving, Colton Wright and Swain each had five aces, while the points leaders were Swain (29), Stepler (27), Newman (26), Rajtik (25), Jacob Misal (23) and Picard (20).
