Baseball 4/12/19 Fannett Metal Earns First Win of Season

Fannett Metal 11 Rockwood 1

Willow Hill, Pa. – The young Tigers have come close to a win in the last few games but they put a complete game together and knocked off a solid Rockwood team 11 to 1 in 5 innings. The Rockets came into the game with a 6-1 record.  Fannett Metal (1-6) touched  Rockwood starter Rhett Pletcher for four runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings to jump out to an 8-0 lead.  In the 2nd inning, four straight RBI singles by Hunter Hill, Luke Coffman, Kyler Goshorn, and Frankie Ryder got the ball rolling.  After Tiger starter Derek Rebuck sat the Rockets down in order in the 3rd inning, the Tigers’ bats went back to work.  Luke Coffman came through with a bases loaded, 2 RBI single and Goshorn singled in another.  The final run in that inning scored on a double steal that plated a run.  The (8-0) lead was more than enough run support for pitcher Derek Rebuck who allowed only one run on four hits in the game.  The Tiger defense played an errorless game in the field.  Offensively, Rylin Sharar and Billy Peppernick both had doubles in the game.  Rebuck, Coffman and Goshorn all had multiple hit games.  The Tigers swiped seven bases on the day.  “Derek gave us the performance we needed on the mound today, and we had several clutch hits throughout the game.  We really needed this win,” said Tiger Coach, Paul Coffman.  The Tigers next game is home on Monday vs Everett at 4:30.
