Chambersburg 3, Central Dauphin East 0: The Trojans made quick work of the Panthers, cruising to wins of 25-10, 25-18 and 25-9 in a Mid Penn Commonwealth match Wednesday.
Riley Laite went 8-for-12 on kill attacks and added seven digs for Chambersburg (4-3, 3-2 MPC). Alex Lapinski and William Simmers each had four kills and Simmers had three block kills.
Trey Stepler, Wes Newman and Colton Wright each had 10 service points and Stepler produced five of the team’s 10 aces. Spencer Rajtik (12) and Stepler (8) led in assists, and the digs leaders were Newman (10) and Stepler (9).
“We had good contributions from everyone on the team,” Trojan coach Marta Helfrick said. “We strived to play at our level and maintain consistency.”

SOFTBALL
Chambersburg 13, Red Land 1: It took just six innings for the Trojans to hang a defeat on Red Land in a Mid Penn Commonwealth game Wednesday.
Chambersburg (6-0, 6-0 MPC) struck for four runs in the first inning, two more in the third and closed it out with four in the sixth. Erin Pattillo threw four innings and allowed six hits and an earned run, while Brooklyn Miller and Kara Neidigh each tossed an inning.
“Erin pitched well and the offense came to life,” Trojan coach Chris Skulkety said. “The girls fought through a second straight day with a long road trip, and did what we needed to do.”
Sara Washabaugh hit her first career home run for the Trojans and Alyssa Wenger put together a 3-for-4 game with three runs batted in.
Skultety said, “Wenger continues to swing a hot bat and get big hits for us.”
Also for Chambersburg, Taylor Myers, Kirsten Johnson, Haiden Brookens and Neidigh all had two hits each and Johnson and Neidigh had three RBIs. Myers hit a triple and Neidigh and Alyssa Brechbill doubled.

BASEBALL
Red Land 14, Chambersburg 0: The Patriots, already leading 4-0, piled up nine runs in the fourth inning and defeated the Trojans in a 5-inning Mid Penn Commonwealth game Wednesday.
Bryson Byers started and pitched three innings for Chambersburg (1-7, 1-5 MPC), striking out three batters.
