Tussey Mt. 14 Forbes Road 13
Saxton, Pa. – Tussey Mountain rallied from deficits of 6-2 and 13-8 to win a wild game in Saxton. Forbes Road led 6-2 entering the bottom of the fifth before the teams erupted for a combined 19 runs in the next two innings. A hit batsman and walk to lead off the home half of the fifth chased Cardinal starter Caleb Hershey. The Titans followed with four singles, bolstered by two Cardinal miscues, to plate six runs in the inning. Forbes Road mounted a rally of their own in the sixth. Seven singles sandwiched a Titan error as the Cardinals sent 11 hitters to the plate, resulting in seven runs and a 13-8 lead. Tussey Mountain had one last answer for the Cardinals. Six hits and two more Cardinal errors put the home team back on top to stay at 14-13. Forbes Road pounded out 15 hits on the evening. Cardinals Kole Kendall, Logan Deshong, Levi Truax, Ethan Wright, and Caleb Voegel recorded multi-hit games. Titan Matthew Leonard collected the pitching victory, while Jordan Berkstresser picked up the save tossing a 1-2-3 seventh. Forbes Road’s Logan Deshong was tagged for the pitching loss despite surrendering just two earned runs. Forbes Road (2-3, 1-3 ICC) returns to action tomorrow, visiting county neighbor McConnellsburg with first pitch scheduled for 4:30.
