SOFTBALL
Chambersburg 3, Mifflin County 0: Mackenzie Stake hurled a four-hit shutout and Alyssa Brechbill broke up a no-hitter with a home run as the Trojans remained unbeaten with a Mid Penn Commonwealth win over the Huskies.

Stake (4-0) did not allow a baserunner until the first batter of the fifth singled. She finished with three strikeouts and no Mifflin County runners reached third base until the seventh.

“Stake pitched a great game, keeping them off-balance for all seven innings,” Chambersburg coach Chris Skultety said. “Kirsten Johnson and Alyssa Wenger had some great defensive plays to preserve the shutout.”

In the fourth, Brechbill cracked her first career home run to put the Trojans (5-0, 5-0 MPC) on the board, and two more runs scored that inning. Wenger was 2-for-3.

Skultety said, “We left our bats in Chambersburg today, but did enough to get a few runs across, and the rookies got us energized. That’s a tough road trip and it’s great to get a win up there.”
