Southern Huntingdon 12 Forbes Road 2

Orbisonia, Pa. – Southern Huntingdon scored in every inning except the third in claiming a run-rule victory over visiting Forbes Road.  Forbes Road scored single runs in the first and fifth innings, but could not sustain any offensive momentum against Southern Huntingdon’s Josh Fleck.  Fleck surrendered just the two earned runs on five hits, walking three and striking out two.  Logan Deshong (2-3, 2B) was the lone Cardinal with multiple hits.  Caleb Hershey also roped a double.  Forbes Road (2-2, 1-2 ICC) travels to Tussey Mountain tomorrow.

McConnellsburg 12 Fannett Metal 3

Willow Hill, Pa. – Fannett-Metal (0-5, 0-4 ICC) hosted McConnellsburg (2-3, 2-3 ICC) tonight and dropped a 12-3 decision.  The Spartans took advantage of four Tiger errors in the first to jump out to an early 3-0 lead.  Kolby Brown knocked in a pair for the Spartans in the first.  Fannett Metal scored two in the second inning on a two out, two run single by Kyler Goshorn, but McConnellsburg scored four more runs in the 3rd to pad their lead.  The Spartans would add more runs in the 6th and 7th to take home the 12-3 victory.  McConnellsburg starter Josh Linniger threw six innings of two hit ball, while the Spartan defense played an errorless game behind him.  Tiger Coach Paul Coffman commented, “Their pitcher through a quality game for them and their 3rd baseman, Walker Funk made a couple outstanding plays to rob us of a few hits.”  The Spartans had 11 hits in the game led by W. Brunner (3 for 4), C.Mellott (2 for 4), W.Gress (2 for 3) and K. Brown( 2 for 4, 3 RBI).  The Tigers other base hits came from Timber Brookens, Frank Ryder, Luke Coffman and Wyatt Appleby. The Tigers visit Southern Fulton on Thursday  at 4:30, while McConnellsburg hosts Forbes Road.

St. Maria Goretti 15 Southern Fulton 7

Hagerstown, Md. – Southern Fulton (3-4) watched their game with St. Maria slip away early as they fell in a non league matchup 15 to 7. The six run second inning dealt the big the big blow to the Indians capped off by a grand slam by C. Martin. Southern Fulton was outhit 8 to 7. Levi Barnard led SF going 2 for 3 at the plate. Konner Pittman took the loss. Southern Fulton will host Fannett Metal on Thursday at 4:30.
