The Shippensburg 200 freestyle team of, from left to right, Julia Strine, Madelyn Facchinei, Madison Osanitch and Makenna Morris, swam a school record time of 1:39.88 on Friday to place second in 2A at the District 3 Swimming Championships.

NEW KINGSTOWN — Shippensburg placed within the top five in four of the five events held Saturday at the District 3 Swimming Championships and ended up in third place in the team standings.

The Lady Hounds finished with 198 points to trail Schuylkill Valley and Northern York.

Julia Strine took fourth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:05.33, and she also placed fifth in the 100 freestyle in 53.67.

Madison Osanitch took fifth in the 500 freestyle with a clocking of 5:18.92. Makenna Morris placed eighth in the 100 free in 54.04.

Shippensburg’s 400 free relay team of Strine, Madelyn Facchinei, Osanitch and Morris were fourth in 3:41.97.

James Buchanan’s top finish came from its 400 free relay team of Annaleisse Hissong, Madison Price, Kortny Green and Sarah Kimmel (3:59.39).

In boys 2A, the top area finish was by Greencastle-Antrim’s Andrew Jackson, who placed 12th in the 500 free with a time of 5:15.15.

A story on the 3A events will be published later tonight. For the second straight day, snow pushed back the start time an hour.
