Lady Blue Devils rally falls short

The Greencastle-Antrim Lady Blue Devils were eliminated after a furious second half rally fell short and the Gettysburg Warriors held on to defeat Greencastle 51-44 at Gettysburg last night. The Blue Devils at one point in the second quarter found themselves down by 20 points and rallied to cut the deficit to three points several times in the fourth quarter.

Gettysburg opened the game with a 9-0 run, after a Blue Devils basket made in 9-2, the Warriors reeled off another 9-0 run to build an 18-2 lead and led 20-5 at the end of the first quarter and had a 34-20 lead at halftime. The Blue Devils then outscored Gettysburg 10-2 in the third quarter and cut the lead to six going to the final eight minutes. Greencastle was able to get to within three points but in the end Gettysburg the #3 seed moved to the quarterfinals and clinched a state berth.

Anne Bair was the leading scorer for the Lady Warriors with 13 points and also in double figures were Lily Natter with 11 and Cheyenne Proctor with 10

Sayge Wilhide had six three pointers to lead Greencastle with 18 points, Lydia Crist added four threes and the senior finished with 12 points, McKenna Rakaczewski added eight, Madison Sweitzer four and Jordan Yeager two.

The Blue Devils  finish the season 14-8 overall.
