Willow Hill, Pa. – Southern Fulton (8-4, 6-2 ICC) traveled to Fannett Metal (6-8, 2-6 ICC) and picked up an Inter County Conference win. The Tigers took a 24 to 20 lead into halftime but a strong third quarter propelled the Indians to a 51 to 45 victory. Dylan Melton led Southern Fulton with 10 points, 2 assists, and 3 steals. Justin Morris added 8 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, and 4 steals. Gabe Stotler contributed 9 points and 5 rebounds. Fannett Metal was led by Frankie Ryder with 17 points and 4 rebounds. JV SF 51 FM 41 (SF Konner Pittman 15 points, Colby Whiteside 13 points, Liam Grabowski 12 points. Southern Fulton is scheduled to play Claysburg on Saturday, Jan. 19 at home. Fannett Metal is scheduled to travel to Tussey Mt. on Monday, January 21.
Forbes Road 66 McConnellsburg 62 OT
McConnellsburg, Pa. – When county rivals Forbes Road (7-6, 4-4 ICC) and McConnellsburg (5-8, 3-5 ICC) meet you can almost always count on an exciting game and Friday’s matchup did not disappoint. Forbes Road rallied from an 11 point deficit entering the fourth quarter to force overtime and eventually win 66-62. Both teams had four players reach double figures. Kolby Brown led McConnellsburg with 17 points, followed by Dominick Reed (15), Zander Sipes (12), and Garrett Bunch (11). Forbes Road rallied behind Logan Deshong’s 24 point performance, including 20 in the 2nd half and overtime. Grayson Hall (17), Justin Garman (12), and Kadin Kuhn (10) bolstered Deshong’s big night. Forbes Road coach Pete Hall commented, “They had us on the ropes through three and a half quarters. We made a run in the third to get even, but we couldn’t get over the hump. They eventually stretched the lead on us by the end of the third and held it into the fourth. We finally found some momentum later in the fourth quarter and made enough plays to get to overtime. The turnout from the community was good to see. The energy in the gym gave it the feel that a county game deserves.” JV MHS 46 FR 25 (MHS Walter Funk, Austin Johnson 11 points) Forbes Road travels to Northern Bedford on Monday. McConnellsburg’s game with CVCS scheduled for today (1/19) is postponed due to the weather forecast. The Spartans host Southern Huntingdon on Monday.
