HAGERSTOWN, Md. – Broadfording pulled away from Cumberland Valley Christian in the second half Tuesday evening and defeated the Blazers 82-51 in a Mason-Dixon Christian Conference boys basketball game.
The Blazers (5-11, 3-5 MDCC) hung with first-place Broadfording for the first half and trailed by nine, 38-29, at the break. But Broadfording put together a big third quarter, led by Charlie Bell, who scored 17 of his game-high 25 points, to pull away.
Caleb Eckert scored 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Blazers. Blaine Minnier contributed 20 points and a team-high three steals.
Also scoring for the Blazers were Josiah Ziebarth with three points and Isaac Kauffeldt and Eladio Pena with two points each.
In their game against Heritage last Friday, the Blazers led 23-17 at the half but scored only 10 points in the second half en route to a 60-33 defeat. Minnier led the Blazers in scoring with 12 points, while Eckert had 10 points and 18 rebounds. Also scoring were Kenneth Hott with six points and Nathan Statler with five.
In a 53-28 non-league loss to Highland View, Minnier scored 12 points, Eckert seven, Pena and Kauffeldt three apiece, Triston Horn two and Ziebarth one.
