Blazers fall at Grace

HAGERSTOWN, Md. — The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers were outscored 17-12 in the final quarter and dropped a 48-41 decision at Grace Academy Tuesday evening in a Mason-Dixon Christian Conference boys basketball game.

The Blazers (4-6, 2-2 MDCC) trailed only 31-29 entering the final period, but Grace scored the first seven points of the quarter, and although the Blazers came within four, they could not get any closer.

“I felt we competed well tonight,” Blazers coach Austin Sanders said. “We just hurt ourselves with untimely turnovers throughout the game. We’ll take this break to retool and refocus and hopefully be ready to go on Jan. 4 (home against Shalom).”

Caleb Eckert scored 19 points to lead the Blazers, and he also blocked six shots. Blaine Minnier scored 10 points and grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds. Also scoring for the Blazers were Nathan Statler with six points, and Triston Horn and Kenneth Hott with three each.

Cody Taylor led Grace with 20 points.

The Blazers held a 32-27 advantage in rebounding but committed 17 turnovers to Grace’s seven.
