Forbes Road 40 Northern Bedford 39

Waterfall, Pa. – Northern Bedford’s last second shot fell short and into the hands of Matt Clippinger, allowing Forbes Road to hold on for a 40-39 victory.  NBC opened the game on an 11-2 run, but Forbes Road responded to take a 14-12 lead after the first period.  The Black Panthers, then held a two point lead at halftime, 26-24.  NBC responded in the third, jumping ahead 35-32 by the end of the period.  Cardinal coach Pete Hall said, “We had opportunities to put the game away in the fourth quarter, but our inexperience showed a little bit.  We took some quick shots and made several turnovers trying to force action.  When we did find good shots, we just didn’t convert down the stretch.  We’re happy with the win, but we still have a lot of room to grow.”  Grayson Hall led FR with 19 points.  Logan Deshong pitched in with a double-double (10 points, 10 rebounds). JV – FR 38  NBC 28.  Matt Clippinger’s (12 pts, 10 reb) and Wyatt McGowan (9 pts, 12 reb) paced the Cardinals. Forbes Road (2-1, 1-1 ICC) travels to Tussey Mountain on Friday.

Tussey Mt. 99 Fannett Metal 60

Willow Hill, Pa. – Tussey Mt. handed Fannett Metal (3-1, 1-1 ICC) their first loss of the season 99 to 60. Tiger Assistant Coach Tony Brookens commented, “We didn’t play our game and we were not very disciplined. We need to have a better effort on defense.” Kyler Goshorn led the scoring for FM with 16 points. Devin Swope led the scoring for Tussey with 23. JV – FM 67, Tussey 31. Fannett Metal returns to action on Friday when they host Southern Huntingdon.

McConnellsburg 48 Southern Huntingdon 44 OT

Orbisonia, Pa. – Dom Reed tied the game at 40 with 6 seconds left in regulation to send the game to overtime and the Spartans (2-1, 2-0 ICC) outlasted Southern Huntingdon for a 48 to 44 Inter County Conference win. Reed paced the Spartans with a double double scoring 29 points and hauling down 13 boards. Lucas McClain contributed with 11 points and 9 rebounds in the win. JV – MHS 26, SH 24. McConnellsburg will host Everett on Friday.

Everett 64 Southern Fulton 47

Everett, Pa. – Southern Fulton (1-1, 1-1 ICC) ran into a tough Everett team tonight and lost 64 – 47 in Inter County Conference action. Gabe Stotler led the Indians with 10 points and 5 rebounds, while Josh Stocker added 10 points and 6 rebounds. Justin Morris and Josh Morris both contributed 9 points. For Everett, Elijah Treece had 30 points while Jared Colledge chipped in 15 points. JV – EHS 37, SF 26 (SF – Josh Morris 9 points) Southern Fulton travels to Northern Bedford on Friday evening.

Forbes Road 47 Belleville Mennonite 20

Belleville, Pa. – The Lady Cardinals traveled to Belleville Mennonite and picked up a non league win 47 to 20. Hannah Skiles led Forbes Road (1-2) with 10 points. Forbes Road Coach Jamie Gelvin said, “We had our usual slow start tonight but got better as the game progressed.  The difference was Mara Broadwater and Quincy McMath controlling the boards.  (Broadwater 17 rebounds, McMath 10) We didn’t allow Belleville many second chances.  It’s good to get a win under our belts and start focusing on the rest of the season.  Forbes Road will host Tussey Mt. on Thursday.
