Blazers fall in MDCC semifinals

The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers dropped the final two games and lost a 3-1 decision to Heritage Academy Thursday in the Mason-Dixon Christian Conference girls volleyball semifinals.

The Blazers (18-5) will play Shalom in the MDCC consolation match Saturday at 12:30 at North Hagerstown High School. Heritage will meet Calvary in the championship match at 2:30.

Heritage won the first game 25-22, but the Blazers rallied to tie the match with a 25-19 victory in Game 2. The top-seeded Blazers then suffered a pair of excruciating losses, 25-22 and 25-23, as fifth-seeded Heritage advanced to the title match.

Leaders for the Blazers were Mackenzie Householder with 22 assists and 5 digs; Tahra Kennedy with 7 kills; Hunter Timmons with 7 kills, 3 aces and 2 digs; Taylor Heck with 4 assists; Emilee Beam with 10 kills and 6 digs; Kaitlin Provard with 2 kills and 2 blocks; Ryleigh Timmons with 10 digs and 3 aces; Isabel Beard with 5 digs; and Kerri Potteiger with 6 digs.
