Heritage outlasts Blazers, 3-2

The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers went five games before dropping a 3-2 decision to Heritage Academy Tuesday evening in a Mason-Dixon Christian Conference girls volleyball game.

The loss dropped the Blazers to 12-2 in the MDCC (17-4 overall). Either they or Calvary will gain the top seed in the MDCC playoffs that begin next week.

Heritage won the first game 25-21, but the Blazers surged ahead with victories of 25-15 and 25-19 in the next two games. Heritage then won game four 25-15 to set up the deciding game, which the Eagles won by a 15-8 margin.

For the Blazers, Emilee Beam led the way with 12 kills, 8 digs, 4 aces and 2 blocks. Also, Mackenzie Householder had 24 assists, 4 digs and 3 kills. Tahra Kennedy added 9 kills and 4 aces, Hunter Timmons 6 kills, 3 digs and 2 aces, Taylor Heck 4 assists, Kaitlin Provard 5 kills and 2 blocks, Ryleigh Timmons 14 digs, and Isabel Beard and Kerri Potteiger 7 digs each.
