The Forbes Road Cardinal Field Hockey team (10-1) hosted Fairfield on Friday afternoon in what was finally a picture perfect weather day. The sun was out in full force and so were the Cardinals.

Quincy McMath led off the scoring just 6 minutes in, with her rebound off the keeper’s pads. Payton Kendall would net the only other goal in the first half as she found herself perfectly positioned at left post to receive a ball sent to her by Mara Broadwater.  The Knights had two shot attempts in the first half that were quickly denied by Cardinal goalie Zoe Cutchall.

After the halftime break, the Cardinals would come out on fire to score five more times.  Mara Broadwater tallied her first goal of the day on an assist from Harlie Strait.  Quincy McMath would strike again on a hard direct shot that found its way through the circle to the cage. The final three goals would happen in rapid succession as the Knight’s defense wore down.  Broadwater scored her second goal, this time assisted by Shelby Harnish.  Harnish would quickly get into scoring action with her own hard shot past the keeper.  The last goal for the Cardinals would come as the result of a perfectly executed penalty corner.  Harnish, along with corner inserter, Hailey Dodson, set up Harlie Strait for her “textbook” score.

This marks Forbes Road’s 10th shut out win so far this season.  The Cardinals travel to East Juniata Monday for their next match at 4:00.
