Field Hockey Forbes Road Downs Keystone League Foe

Forbes Road 4 Huntingdon 0

Due to the week’s incessant rain, the less than stellar field conditions had the Cardinals and Bearcats both struggling for footing in Thursday’s 4 pm field hockey match in Huntingdon.   The Cardinals (9-1) were able to take charge of the game in the early minutes despite the soggy conditions.  Mara Broadwater scored on a pass from Quincy McMath eight minutes in.  McMath would find the cage shortly thereafter on her penalty corner goal assisted by Emma Gelvin.  The score at the half would remain at 2-0.

McMath would strike again midway through the second half on a hard shot launched from the right side of the circle.  With 7 minutes left in the game, the Cardinals had a goal called back after the officials deliberated and deemed it too high coming into the circle. Undeterred by the retraction, Harlie Strait scored the final tally 2 minutes later on a free hit play set up by Brianna Waters and Shelby Harnish.
