The Forbes Road Cardinal Field Hockey Team (6-1) traveled to Mercersburg Thursday afternoon for a 5 pm match against the Blue Storm for a non league game.

With just 1 minute and 10 seconds elapsed, the Cardinals scored goal number one by capitalizing on a quickly earned penalty corner.  Shelby Harnish shoved the ball past the goalie on a pass sent to her by Mara Broadwater.  Harlie Strait was the next to score on an exciting fast break play ending in a one-on-one situation between her and the Blue Storm’s keeper.  Mara Broadwater would score the final goal of the first half on another penalty corner play, this one set up by Quincy McMath.

The second half began much like the first with another quickly earned penalty corner shortly after the starting whistle.  Harnish would score her second goal of the match on a pass sent to her by corner inserter Hailey Dodson.  Midfielder Emma Gelvin topped off the Cardinal’s goal scoring for the day on another successfully executed penalty corner play put into motion by Harnish and Strait.
