BOYS SOCCER
Chambersburg 4, State College 0: The Trojans captured a 3-0 lead in the first half and cruised to a Mid Penn Commonwealth victory over the Little Lions at Trojan Stadium on Thursday evening.

Chambersburg (4-2-1, 3-1 MPC) opened the scoring with a penalty kick goal by Luke Myers in the seventh minute. Emmanuel Hewitt then scored two goals before halftime to make it 3-0, with the second assisted by Omario Duncan.

In the second half, Kenan Korkutovic hit the back of the net for the Trojans. It was the first time Hewitt or Korkutovic had scored this season.

“It was a big game, because  State College has been a quality team year in, year out in the Mid Penn and this year is no different,” Chambersburg coach Corey Grove said. “They’ve played nine games thus far, and seven were shutouts.

“For us to come in tonight and score four goals against a quality side is a huge statement.  I tell the boys all the time that in the Mid Penn, sometimes it comes down to the team that is able to minimize the mistakes and tonight we did that.”

GOLF
Trojans finish season 42-0: Chambersburg earned the Mid Penn Colonial Division title, finished with a 42-0 record and stretched its amazing winning streak to 294 consecutive wins on Thursday at Chambersburg Country Club.

The Trojans had 320 strokes to finish 28 strokes ahead of Waynesboro, which finished second in the standings with a 34-8 mark. Greencastle-Antrim finished 17-25, James Buchanan was 10-32 and Shippensburg picked up its first win to finish 1-41.

While West Perry’s Ben Smith shot a fine 4-under to win medalist honors, Chambersburg put three players in the top four — Grayson Hopple (2nd, 76), Karsen Rush (3rd, 77) and Spencer Rajtik (tie for 4th, 79). Also, Jacob Carlin had 88 and Owen Reichelderfer 98, while Mary Kate Norcross shot a 77 in exhibition, that included an eagle on No. 5 when she knocked in her second shot from the fairway.

Trojan coach Mark Yost said, “Grayson had a nice day — he bogeyed his last four holes, so he really had it going before that. Spencer had a good day, and Karsen had not his best day. He put himself in some difficult positions and at the country club a mistake can be very penal.”

Chambersburg plays in the Hershey Invitational on Sunday, the boys Mid Penn tournament is Monday at Dauphin Highlands and the MPC girls event is Wednesday at Armitage.
