The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers continued rolling over Mason-Dixon Christian Conference opponents, defeating Heritage Academy 6-1 Friday in Hagerstown, Md., in boys soccer.
The Blazers (9-0, 7-0 MDCC) scored three goals in each half. Jack Gabler, Kenneth Hott and Ryan Winters connected in the first half as the Blazers claimed a 3-1 lead. Hott and Winters scored about five minutes apart to make it 5-1, and then Hott completed his hat trick with a goal at 67 minutes.
Hott went over the 200-point scoring mark for his career.
Eli Black contributed a pair of assists, while Caleb Eckert, Noah Randolph, Isaac Kauffeldt and Josh Rowe each added an assist. Black made seven saves in goal for the Blazers, who held advantages of 34-16 in shots and 7-2 in corner kicks.
“Heritage played very hard, but Kenneth was too much for them to handle,” Blazers coach Stan Hott said. “Eli Black did a great job both in goal and on the field for us tonight.”
In a non-league game on Saturday, the Blazers broke a scoreless tie 18 minutes into the game and went on to defeat Fannett-Metal, 3-1.
Hott opened the scoring with an assist from Jimmy Hong, and then five minutes later he scored again, this time on a feed from Rowe. Black scored on an assist from Hott to finish the scoring with about seven minutes to play after Fannett-Metal had trimmed the lead to 2-1. Black also made six saves while playing in goal during the first half, and Jack Gabler finished off the victory.
“We were very sluggish today,” Stan Hott said. “Playing two games in less than 18 hours was hard on the boys. They did a good job. We were unable to play at our normal pace just because we did not have the legs.”
The Blazers outshot the Tigers 35-15 and led in corner kicks, 10-5.
