Unbeaten Blazers claim another 3-2 victory

For the second straight match, the Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers built a 2-0 lead and then had to rally for a 3-2 victory, this time over Calvary Christian Tuesday in a Mason-Dixon Christian Conference girls volleyball game.

The Blazers (9-0, 6-0 MDCC) won the first two games, rolling to victories of 25-15 and 25-9 to seemingly take control of the match. Calvary battled back, however, with a pair of 25-17 wins before the Blazers pulled out the victory with a 15-10 decision in the fifth game.

“Tonight’s match was a good win. Tough one, but good one,” Blazers coach Carole Rosenberry said. “Both teams played hard and left everything on the court. When we work together, things get done.”

Emilee Beam led the team in kills with 17 and added 6 digs. Mackenzie Householder had 28 assists, 10 digs and 5 aces. Ryleigh Timmons also added 10 digs, while Isabel Beard and Kerri Potteiger added 7 each.

Also, Tahra Kennedy had 4 kills, Hunter Timmons had 7 kills and 5 digs, Taylor Heck had 4 assists, and Kaitlin Provard had 3 kills.

The Blazers also won the JV game 2-0.
