Blue Devil volleyball win streak now at five straight

GREENCASTLE — The Blue Devil girls volleyball team continue their winning ways picking up a pair of home victories on Saturday.  Greencastle recorded a three game sweep over Big Spring in the early afternoon.  The scores in the match were 25-13, 25-8 and 25-11.  Madison Kirkwood led the way with 12 kills while Rachel Verhoef added 8 kills and 8 service aces.  Bailey Wilson contributed 27 assists in the game.

Later in the day the team defeated Northern York, also in three straight sets.  Greencastle had everything under control in jumping out to a two sets to nothing lead by scores of 25-20 and 25-15.  Northern did not let up and led early in the third set before Greencastle rallied to close out the match 25-23.  Verhoef and Baylee Schaeffer were the offensive stars of the game for the Blue Devils with 18 and 13 kills respectively.  Verhoef added 6 service aces while Madison Kirkwood had 4 aces.  With the two wins on Saturday, Greencastle is now 5-0 on the season, 2 and 0 in the Mid Penn Keystone Division.

The Blue Devil volleyball team returns to action Monday afternoon as they travel to James Buchanan.
