BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Chambersburg 3, State College 1: The Trojans continued a recent positive surge, beating State College 3-1 in a Mid Penn Commonwealth match Thursday night for their fourth win in the last five contests.
It avenged a 3-0 loss to the Little Lions earlier in the season.
“We played great team defense tonight,” Chambersburg coach Paul Schlabach said. “State College gave us fits in our first match, but we were able to adjust, and the boys played hard. Wes Newman had a great night defensively with 28 digs. Josiah Picard had a solid all-around game with 14 kills, 2 aces and 11 digs. Kellen Stepler (No. 24, above) also had a solid game, with 39 kill assists, 3 block kills and 2 aces.”
Ty Holsopple came up with 11 kills and 2 blocks for the Trojans (7-6, 5-5 MPC).
GIRLS LACROSSE
Central Dauphin 16, Chambersburg 11: The Trojans lost their fourth straight game Thursday to fall to 3-6 (see 4/27 roundup for scoring).
BOYS LACROSSE
Central Dauphin 15, Chambersburg 6: The Rams handed the Trojans (3-7) a Mid Penn Commonwealth defeat Thursday afternoon.
Chambersburg coach Paul Flohr said, “We didn’t play good defense and allowed too many backside passes, leading to goals on the crease. It’s very frustrating, because we worked on it all week.
“Nash Bothe again did his job, along with Jake Gordon scoring two goals as a d-mid.”
Bothe was 14-8 on faceoffs. Also scoring for the Trojans were Riley Ocker, Grayson Hopple, Thomas Elia and Haden Ocker, while Riley Ocker and Brandin Cosey had assists.
