Chambersburg softball defeats Carlisle 14-7

Chambersburg 14, Carlisle 7: The Herd scored 3 runs in the bottom of third inning to take a 3-0 lead over Chambersburg.

It didn’t last long, however, as the Trojans racked up 12 runs in the top of the fourth on their way to a 14-7 Mid Penn Commonwealth victory Thursday afternoon.

Chambersburg (6-3, 6-2 MPC) got two-run singles from Kara Neidigh and Brooklyn Miller in the big inning. Earlier, Miller had singled in a run, and other RBI base hits were notched by Kirsten Johnson and Alyssa Wenger. An error let in one run, and — two different times — a wild pitch allowed two runs to cross the plate.

Neidigh, Miller and Taylor Myers each had two hits and Alexis Estep belted a triple.

The beneficiary was pitcher Miller, who went four innings for the win, giving up 3 runs on 4 hits.
