BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Chambersburg 3, Carlisle 0: The Trojans were able able to reverse a loss earlier in the season to the Thundering Herd on Tuesday, sweeping them 25-13, 25-15 and 25-18 in a Mid Penn Commonwealth match.
“Tonight we served Carlisle tough, which we were unable to do in our first match against them this season,” Chambersburg coach Paul Schlabach said. “We also took advantage of some of their guys being out. Trey Stepler had a big game for us with 5 kills, 5 digs and 3 aces. Steve Swain hit extremely efficiently for us tonight, with 8 kills on 12 attempts.”
Also for the Trojans (5-5, 3-4 MPC), Josiah Picard had 10 kills and 9 digs, Will Simmers had 7 kills and 2 blocks and Dylan Culler, Kellen Stepler and Wes Newman each had 8 digs.
GIRLS TRACK & FIELD
Chambersburg 83, Central Dauphin 67: Chambersburg outscored the Rams 53-34 on the track to make up for a slight CD edge in the field to claim a Mid Penn Commonwealth victory Tuesday at Trojan Stadium.
Ashley Adams (discus, 85-7) and Deja Winkler (shot put, 29-5) were the winners in the field for the Trojans (3-2, 3-2 MPC).
On the track, the hurdles were swept by Chambersburg, with Sydnie Gilbert, Morgan Mentzer and Caroline Hance going 1-2-3 in both events, with Gilbert’s winning times 16.0 in the 100 and 50.6 in the 300.
Other winners included Jacelyn Jones in the 100 (13.3), Abby Yourkavitch in the 1600 (5:45). Kiera Whitehead in the 800 (2:32.8) and the 4 x 800 and 4 x 100 relay teams.
BOYS TRACK & FIELD
Chambersburg 102, Central Dauphin 48: Nate Reed earned three victories and Trayton Barnette and Tyeshawn Worrell each won two events to power Chambersburg to an MPC win over the Rams.
Reed was victorious in the long jump (19-9), triple jump (39-5.5) and javelin (150-8) and also ran on the winning 4 x 400 relay along with Barnette, Worrell and Trentin Overcash in 3:38.
Barnette took the 110 hurdles in 15.8 and the 300 hurdles in 42.9, while Worrell crossed the line first in the 100 (11.3) and 200 (23.8).
Also taking wins for the Trojans (4-1, -1 MPC) were Matt Hoover (1600, 4:45), James Merkle (800, 2:07.2), Nathan Hoffeditz (discus, 83-2), Brock Harmon (shot put, 46-10.5) and Shane Ambrose (pole vault, 10-6).
Chambersburg swept the long jump and the pole vault, with Ambrose and Tucker Perry going 2-3 in the long jump, and Tyler Luther and Nathen Snyder finishing 2-3 in the pole vault.
BOYS LACROSSE
State College 8, Chambersburg 7: The Trojans hit the road to State College on Tuesday and suffered a narrow Mid Penn Commonwealth defeat to the Little Lions.
Haden Ocker tallied 4 goals for Chambersburg (2-5, 1-2 MPC). The other goals were scored by Thomas Elia, Brandin Cosey and Klein Burkholder. Riley Ocker contributed an assist, goalie Jarrett Secrist had 8 saves and Nash Bothe won 11 of 19 faceoffs. Haden Ocker also had 4 ground balls, as did defenseman Pierre Alcegaire.
Trojan coach Paul Flohr said, “We had a few bad turnovers that killed us late in the game. Haden played great as well as Jarrett and Nash.”
