Big third quarter propels Blazers

NEEDMORE – The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers put together a 25-point third quarter and defeated Bedford Christian 59-41 in a non-league boys basketball game Thursday evening.

The Blazers (8-14) trailed 27-26 at the half but erupted in the third quarter to nab a 51-37 lead.

Two freshmen led the Blazers in scoring: Caleb Eckert scored a career-high 25 points, and Blaine Minnier tied his career high with 16.

The Blazers held a 38-20 advantage in rebounding, led by Eckert’s nine. Minnier, Jesus Pena and Nathan Statler grabbed seven rebounds each. Eckert and Pena each handed out five assists.

The Blazers play at Faith Christian in Martinsburg, W. Va., this evening in a game that will determine their seeding in the Mason-Dixon Christian Conference playoffs.
