Blazers drop game to Grace

HAGERSTOWN, Md. – The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers were outscored 38-20 in the middle quarters and dropped a 70-55 decision to Grace Academy Tuesday evening in a Mason-Dixon Christian Conference boys basketball game.

The Blazers (7-14, 5-8 MDCC) led most of the first quarter before Grace tied it at 12-12 with two foul shots after time had expired. The Knights outscored CVCS 18-8 in the second quarter to take a 10-point halftime lead. They expanded it to 50-32 entering the fourth quarter, but a furious CVCS rally cut the deficit to seven with about two minutes to play.

Freshman Blaine Minnier led the Blazers with 16 points, including 6-for-6 from the foul line. Fellow ninth-grader Caleb Eckert scored 15 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Senior Jesus Pena added 13 points and three assists.

For Grace, Brayden Qurple scored 22 points and Todd Stocks had 21.
