Pena erupted for 29 points as the Blazers moved to 7-13 overall, 5-7 MDCC. Pena scored 21 of his points in the second half as the Blazers overcame a 25-24 halftime deficit. He had 12 in the third quarter when CVCS moved to a 38-32 lead.
Freshman Caleb Eckert had a big night with 17 points and 16 rebounds.
“Jesus played an outstanding game, and to get a double-double performance like that from a freshman was impressive,” Blazers coach Austin Sanders said. “Defensively we played well.”
Machai Nelson led Heritage with 23 points.
