The Greyhounds continued their push toward the Colonial Division title and the District 3 Class 5A tournament as they knocked off Greencastle-Antrim 48-34 on Tuesday night.
Mariah Martin led the ‘Hounds with 15 points and 12 rebounds and got help from Samantha Barmont who tallied 13 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in the win. Freshman Tori Rumbaugh knocked down two shots from beyond the arc for eight points.
The Greyhounds led throughout the game but put it away in a fourth quarter where they outscored the Blue Devils 18-9.
Martin made 11 of 15 shots at the foul line. Kara Newell only scored two points but again filled up the stat sheet. She grabbed five boards, shared 5 assists and added four steals. Rumbaugh added three rebounds two assists and two steals.
The Greyhounds host Susquehannock Thursday and can clinch a tie for the division Friday night against James Buchanan, Both games are at home and varsity starts at 7:30 PM.
Shippensburg currently sits in the 9th spot in the power ratings, while Susquehannock sits in the 4th spot. Three wins to finish out the season could do wonders for the Greyhounds post season hopes.
