CRESAPTOWN, Md. — The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers pulled away after taking a one-point halftime lead and defeated Calvary Christian 51-43 Friday night in a Mason-Dixon Christian Conference boys basketball game.

The Blazers (5-9, 3-4 MDCC) fell behind early but rallied to take a 29-28 advantage into halftime. They led 37-33 after three quarters and expanded the margin in the final period.

Jesus Pena shot 9-for-10 from the line and led the Blazers with 15 points and four steals. Eli Black was next in the balanced scoring attack with 10 points, Blaine Minnier added nine points and seven rebounds, Caleb Eckert contributed eight points and a team-high nine rebounds, and Joel Vandersleen scored seven points.

In a non-league game on Saturday, the Blazers lost 47-34 to McConnellsburg, which outscored the Blazers 27-16 in the second half.

Black led the Blazers with 11 points, while Eckert and Pena added nine apiece. Eckert pulled down 10 rebounds.

Dominick Reed led the Spartans with 23 points and Lucas McClain dropped in 16.
