Fulton/FM Girls Basketball Roundup 1/18/18

McConnellsburg 34, Forbes Road 30

Forbes Road (3-9, 2-7 SHL, 1-7 ICC) traveled to McConnellsburg (3-10, 1-7 SHL, 1-6 ICC) for a county and league matchup in which the Lady Spartans prevailed 34-30. Kellyn Perry led the Lady Spartans with a double double of 12 points and 19 rebounds. Sammie Hensley also had 12 points. Katelyn Truax added 8 points and 5 blocks. Quincy McMath had 12 for the Cardinals, Maddy Miller 7 points and Courtney Schoen had 6 points. JV: FR 56, MHS 23. McConnellsburg will travel to Cumberland Valley Christian on January 20, while Forbes Road heads to Southern Huntingdon on January 23.

Southern Fulton 72, Fannett Metal 61

Southern Fulton (9-3, 7-2 SHL, 6-2 ICC) traveled to Fannett Metal (7-5, 7-3 SHL, 5-3 ICC) for a league game and came away with a 72-61 win. The Indians jumped out to a 17-11 first quarter lead and improved that to 36-25 at halftime.  Both teams scored 36 points in the second half. Southern Fulton had 4 players in double digits with Kierstyn Morton leading the way with 19 points. Ava Hull had 15 points, Lindsey Hollenshead had 14 points, and Jessie Covalt added 11 points. Lindsey Hollenshead had a double-double as she contributed 10 assists. Rebounding leaders were Lindsey Hollenshead and Drew Gordon each with 8. The Lady Tigers were led by Ally Hoffman with 17, Morgan Ritchey had 15 points, Katie Johns had 13 points while Taylor Coffman and Katelyn Ritchey scored 9 and 7 points respectively. Lady Indian Coach Meagan Mellott said, “We had a very good first half defensively — with a team like Fannett Metal you can’t let that slip in the second half. We gave up too many points. But offensively we shared the ball really well tonight with a team total of 20 assists. I’m proud of the girls for fighting through and finishing the game.” JV: FM 35- SF 20 SF. Rachel Bradshaw 8 points. Fannett Metal will travel to Tussey Mountain on January 22, while Southern Fulton hosts Clear Spring, MD on January 23.
