Fulton/FM Girl’s Basketball Roundup 1/11/18

Southern Fulton 39 Forbes Road 29

Southern Fulton (7-3, 5-2 SHL, 4-2 ICC) hosted the Lady Cardinals of Forbes Road (3-7, 2-5 SHL, 1-5 ICC) and came away with a league win 39-29. Ava Hull led the Lady Indians with 13 points followed by Lindsey Hollenshead with 12 points and 5 assists, Jesse Covalt had 9 rebounds. Quincy McMath led Forbes with 11 points. Forbes Road will host Everett and Southern Fulton will host Northern Bedford both on January 15.

Fannett Metal 40 McConnellsburg 39

The Lady Tigers (6-3, 6-2 SHL, 4-2 ICC) traveled to McConnellsburg (2-9, 0-6 SHL, 0-6 ICC) and won a hard fought league contest 40-39. After the Spartans jumped out to a 5-0 lead, the Tiger spent the rest of the first quarter trying to claw back.  The quarter ended with the score tied at 12 apiece. This would be a common theme throughout the night. The Tigers were able to build a 18-12 lead only to see it evaporate by halftime.  The second half saw each team only score 17 points.  Foul shooting would prove pivotal in the final stanza which saw the Spartans go 1 for 3 and the Tigers 5 for 6. McConnellsburg was led by Katelyn Truax with 16 points and 5 rebounds and Kellyn Perry with 10 points and 5 rebounds. Taylor Coffman led Fannett Metal with 13 points, Katie Johns had 10 points and 7 rebounds, Morgan Ritchey had 12 rebounds and 4 points, and Ally Hoffman had 5 assists. JV FM 36 MHS 21 FM Brynn Hartman 11 points MHS Sheridan Perry and Kylie Brown 6 points, Izabella Keefer 5 points. Fannett Metal will travel next to James Buchanan on Saturday and McConnellsburg will host Chestnut Ridge on January 15.
