GIRLS SWIMMING
Chambersburg 91, Carlisle 78: Heading into the final race, the 400 freestyle relay, the Mid Penn Commonwealth meet was up for grabs. But the Trojans took the first two places to wrap up the win.
For Chambersburg (2-2, 2-1 MPC), the team of Maddie Kinton, Emily Stroble, Bree Kratz and Abby Reichelderfer took first place, followed by the runner-up team of Mandy Asbury, Cayris Wright, Kyleigh Ballard and Tamara Quispe.
“The girls’ victory was a complete team effort,” Trojan coach Donnie Miller said. “Various girls picked up points by winning close races, combined with strong relay efforts throughout, proved to be the difference in the meet. Even the girls who did not score team points still competed and earned personal improvements, which inspired their teammates.”
Quispe (100 free) and Reichelderfer (breaststroke) were the only individual winners for Chambersburg.
