GIRLS BASKETBALL
South Western 37, Chambersburg 19: The Trojans were totally stifled by South Western’s defense and the Mustangs picked up a non-league victory Thursday evening.

Chambersburg (2-5) made only 7 field goals and went a dismal 4-for-13 from the foul line. The Trojans scored no more than 6 points in any quarter.

Taylor Vrabel scored 9 points and Ashley Adams had 7, but only one other player scored. For South Western, Madi Wisensale equaled the Trojans’ output with 19 points, including 11 in the second quarter alone.

Chambersburg has scored progressively fewer points in each of their seven games.

BOYS SWIMMING
Chambersburg 133, Shippensburg 53: The Trojans set a pair of records during their win over the Greyhounds — Jacob Greenwood set a Shippensburg pool record in the 500 freestyle with his time of 4:46.20, while diver Nick Cover set a school record for a six-dive event with 316.10 points.

Greenwood also captured first in the 200 free, Avery Barley won the 200 IM and 100 butterfly and C.J. Pong won the 100 free and 100 backstroke. Sam Vessah raced to first place in the 50 free. Chambersburg is 2-1.

The Hounds’ Sam Nonemaker was a winner in the 100 breaststroke.

GIRLS SWIMMING
Shippensburg 133, Chambersburg 52: Four Lady Hound swimmers each won a pair of events and Ship won each of the events in a win over Chambersburg.

Double winners included Madison Osanitch (200, 500 free), Makenna Morris (200 IM, 100 butterfly), Julia Strine (50 free, 100 backstroke) and Madelyn Facchinei (100 free, 100 breaststroke). Emily Loftus also won diving for Ship.

Trojan coach Donnie Miller said, “We completed some promising individual efforts, but a faster group of top swimmers for Ship, combined with more depth at this point in the season, proved to be too much.”

Miller said Bree Kratz and Amanda Asbury had “standpoint performances” for Chambersburg (1-2).
