The Cumberland Valley Christian School Blazers (2-3) used a late third quarter rally to put away the visiting Calvary Christian Academy Eagles (0-2) 44-30 in a Mason Dixon Christian Conference matchup. The Blazers trailed by 2 points entering into the second quarter, however that is when the defense pressure began to create chaos. Using stifling defense the Blazers went on a 12-2 run to the end the first half. Coach Austin Sanders was pleased with his teams performance he said ” We came into the game locked in, knowing if we played great defense we could win. The guys did exactly that and it created opportunities  for us to score in transition. This is a talented hard working group of guys  who have bought into the defensive mindset we have created and tonight it showed.”

The Blazers picked right back up after halftime using another 11-5 run to put away the Eagles. The Blazers forced 21 turnovers off 18 steals and limited themselves to only 12 which allowed for a quicker transition game according to Coach Sanders. Senior Jesus Pena and Freshman Caleb Eckert led the attack for the Blazers. Pena finished with 15 points 5 rebounds and 3 assists with Eckert adding a season high 17 points and 8 rebounds. The Eagles were led by Will Spies who had 14 points and 10 rebounds in a losing effort.

The Blazers next home game is this Thursday December 7th vs Mowersville Christian at 5:00 pm.
