Chambersburg’s volleyball season ends

EXETER TWP. — The Chambersburg girls volleyball team nearly pulled off an upset in the District 3 Class 4A volleyball tournament Saturday afternoon.

Unfortunately, after forcing a fifth game in their first-round match against No. 5 seed Warwick, the Trojans got behind early and were defeated 15-5 in that crucial final set.

The Warriors (15-3) won the first set and third set (25-20, 25-14), but Chambersburg, the No. 12 seed which finished 9-8, won the second and fourth (25-20, 25-18).

“We fought hard and made it a good match,” Trojan assistant coach Bobby Culler said. “It was a good season and all of our seniors did a great job of leading the way and setting the pace. Good luck to them all as they begin their next step in life.

“Lauren Ching recorded her 2,500th assist (2,522 total in her career) on a kill from her senior classmate and friend, Bailee Nitterhouse. Bailee herself played a tremendous match.”

Nitterhouse racked up a bunch of stats, with 19 service points, 6 aces, 9 kills and 15 digs. Ching posted 29 assists.

Also for Chambersburg, Ashley Adams had 9 kills, Ally Davis had 5 kills, Ansley Runk made 13 digs, Taylor Myers had 9 digs and Lexi Anderson contributed 9 digs and 9 points.
