GIRLS TENNIS

Cedar Cliff 3, Chambersburg 2: The Trojans won both doubles matches, but the Colts prevailed in the 3 singles matches to earn a narrow Mid Penn Commonwealth win Thursday.

Cally Papoutsis and Alexis Parra won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles, and Kaylin Shearer and Aubrey Carlin were 6-2, 6-2 winners at No. 2. The Trojans are 1-7 (1-5 MPC).

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

State College 3, Chambersburg 2: The Little Lions romped in the fifth game, 15-6, to win a back-and-forth Mid Penn Commonwealth battle against the Trojans (2-2, 2-2 MPC). State College won the first game 25-17 and the third 25-19, but Chambersburg was the winner in game 2 (25-13) and game 4 (25-19).

“This was a very entertaining match between two evenly-matched teams,” Trojan coach Ty Frelin said. “Both teams served extremely tough and showed a lot of heart in this marathon match.”

For Chambersburg, Lauren Ching led in kills (9), aces (3) and assists (28) and had 14 digs and 21 service points. Bailee Nitterhouse added 8 kills and a team-high 16 digs. Ally Davis and Ashley Adams each had 6 kills and Ansley Runk had 13 digs.

BOYS SOCCER

Chambersburg 3, Cedar Cliff 1: The Trojans (3-1-1, 2-1-1 MPC) fell behind 1-0 in the second half, but scored three goals after that, the second two in the final 14 minutes, to beat the Colts.

Luke Myers, Gavyn Westberry and Emmanuel Hewitt tallied the goals for Chambersburg, while Abram Fox, Connor Gniewek and Chuy Munoz had assists. Andrew Armstrong made 3 saves.

Cedar Cliff 3, Chambersburg 1: The Trojans fall to 3-4 (0-4 MPC). Gabby Lecuona scored for Chambersburg in the game’s late stages.
