JB football travels to Camp Hill

It will be a difficult task, but not an impossible one for the James Buchanan Rocket football team to pick up its first win Friday night.

The Rockets travel to Camp Hill to take on a Lions squad that features one of the top quarterbacks in the midstate and a 6-foot-6 tight end, who is a Penn State recruit.

Camp Hill comes in with a 1-2 record, including a 39-20 setback to Annville-Cleona last week. James Buchanan is 0-3, lost 55-15 at Fairfield last week and has 25 straight games.

Lion quarterback Quinn Buffington has passed for 644 yards, 6 TDs and 5 INTs on the season. Quinn is also the Camp Hill’s top rusher with 30 carries for 236 yards and 2 TDs

The top-notch tight end is Zach Kuntz, who has 14 receptions for 285 yards and 2 TDs. Two weeks ago in a 21-14 win over Lancaster Catholic, Kuntz had 9 catches for 222 yards.

James Buchanan’s defense will have to tighten up better than its first three games which has yielded 150 points (50/game) and 1,336 yards (445/game) including 963 on the ground.

Running back Cormac Houpt leads the Rockets with 521 yards and 7  TDs. Quarterback Sawyer Egolf, who rushed for 105 yards and a TD last week, is 10-for-29 passing for 145 yards and 8 INTs. Clay Sanders leads the receivers with 4 catches for 67 yards.
