G-A roundup: Blue Devils knock off Hershey in baseball

Greencastle-Antrim 8, Hershey 3: The Blue Devils pieced together two big innings, Avery Horst had a good pitching outing and that led to a qualify non-league victory over the Trojans on Monday night in Hershey.

Parker Funk

Greencastle (5-5) put up 4 runs in the third inning and another 4 in the fourth inning to take a substantial lead.

Briggs Remenick, Parker Funk and Carter McCauley each tallied a pair of hits for the offense. Remenick hit a triple and had 2 runs batted in and Funk notched a double and an RBI. Horst contributed a pair of runs knocked in, and Ryan Farrow and Logan Shifflett each posted an RBI.

Trojan pitchers walked two and hit four batters.

Hershey (8-3) scored a run in the first inning off of Horst, but he did not give up anything else in his five innings of work. He allowed 3 hits, walked 2 and struck out 7. Ryan Bohrer threw the final two innings and gave up 2 runs.

G-A coach Eric Shaner said, “It was a really nice win, but we still need to show some consistency. We need to bring it tomorrow (Senior Day game vs. James Buchanan) and we need to go on a winning streak.”
