Chambersburg roundup: CD claims 6-3 win over Trojans in baseball

Ceagan Truett

BASEBALL
Central Dauphin 6, Chambersburg 3: The Trojans scored 3 runs in the fifth inning, but that was all they could manage in a defeat to the Rams in a Mid Penn Commonwealth game at CD on Monday afternoon.

Central Dauphin (5-4, 4-3 MPC) put four runs on the board over the first three innings, then after Chambersburg (3-7, 1-5 MPC) made it 4-3, the Rams put two more on the board in the bottom of the fifth.

In the Trojans’ fifth Evan Brown led of with a single and Ceagan Truett followed with a base hit. After an out, Jake Folmar walked to load the bases. Aaron Vasquez came through with an RBI single to score the first run. Wyatt Martin followed with another hit to score Truett, and Folmar scored on a fielder’s choice by Kadyn McMullen.

Logan Draper started the game for Chambersburg and allowed 4 runs on 5 hits through 4 innings.

GIRLS LACROSSE
Cedar Cliff 14, Chambersburg 8: The Trojans tallied their second-highest number of goals for the season, but an 11-0 halftime deficit was a little too much to overcome in a non-league defeat to the Colts on Monday at Trojan Stadium.

“The girls dug deep and came out to play in the second half,” Chambersburg coach Keara Allshouse said. “We controlled the ball and got the job done during the third and fourth quarter. However, we need to get the ball rolling sooner when we play Thursday.”

The Trojans (1-9) had four players score 2 goals each: Gabriella Sabatino, McKenna Myers, Mara Costolo and Reagan Barrett, while Barrett  and Sarah Wilcox contributed assists.

In goal, Megan Mickey came up with 18 saves.

BOYS TENNIS
Central Dauphin 5, Chambersburg 0: The Rams produced straight-set wins in all five matches to pick up a Mid Penn Commonwealth victory over the Trojans on Monday afternoon at Norlo Park.

The most competitive match came at No. 2 singles, where Nathan Heimbach of Chambersburg (2-10) battled CD’s Aidan O’Neill, who prevailed 3-6, 5-7.

At No. 3 singles, the Trojans’ Jack Fiegl dropped his match 6-1, 3-6 to Adan Mai.
