H.S. golf: 3 area players make cut at districts

WEST YORK — Of the six local golfers competing in the opening round of the District 3 Golf Championship on Thursday, three scored well enough to make the cut and advance to the final round.

The event, which concludes on Saturday, is being played at Honey Run Golf Club,

Shippensburg’s Kaydee Hockenberry and Waynesboro’s Abby Byers  got through in the Class 3A girls tournament, while on the boys’ 3A side, Ship’s Kaden Ramsey made the cut.

Beckenbaugh sits in a tie for 7th place, six strokes behind the leader, Bryn Krosse of Dallastown. Beckenbaugh shot nines of 38-42 and birdied No. 5. Byers shot an 85, with nines of 44-41, and is in a tie for 12th place.

Ramsey turned in a card of 78, shooting 39 on each side, and had birdies on No. 1 and No. 15. He is in a tie for 18th place.

Chambersburg’s Kole Peiffer shot an 82 (43-39), including a birdie on No. 15, but missed the cut by just one stroke. Greencastle-Antrim’s Camden Eby posted an 84 (41-43). On the girls’ side, the Trojans’ Abby Rensch shot a 94 (47-47).
