Coach’s viewpoint: Carter said, “I think I have one starter on defense who’s not either out injured or dinged up. We get some guys back and then lose others. It’s nuts. The kids are trying to fight through all the injuries and they’re doing a good job rehabbing. Our defense in the second half was really aggressive against CV last week, and we’ll need to carry that effort to this week. We need to be tough and make plays on their side of scrimmage.”
Unsung: Carter said his defense was effective vs. CV in the second half … The Eagles gained only 96 yard and 4 first downs, and one play went for 41 yards … “We rallied around each other, after I asked them to play with effort at halftime.” … Mason Mowen and Deakon Snavely had interceptions — the first turnovers of the season for Chambersburg.

The opponent: The Bubblers have scuffled lately, losing 13 consecutive games, including 26-13 to Greencastle last October … However, 3 of the teams that beat the Bubblers this year are unbeaten (Big Spring, Hanover, West Perry) and the combined record of all 4 opponents is 14-2 … “They will be playing hard, and we can’t overlook them,” Greencastle coach Jason Thurston said. “They’ve used a couple of different quarterbacks, and they both do some running. We need to have better coverage when they pass, but we’ll also have to contain the QB runs.”
Coach’s viewpoint: Thurston said, “We really need to get a win, because we were humbled last week. Our goal this week is not so much to beat Boiling Springs, but to put that last one behind us and get better as a team. We had two of the best practices this week that I’ve ever been a part of, so that was encouraging.”
Unsung: QB Gavin Logsdon … Thurston said, “Wyatt Hull had a good game overall, but Logsdon had to play against a big pass rush, and he hung in the pocket and made some nice passes.”
