Chambersburg 5, Mechanicsburg 0: The Trojans snapped a two-match losing skid on Monday afternoon, beating the Wildcats in a non-league contest at Norlo Park.

The only 3-set victory came at No. 1 doubles, in which the Trojans’ Gretta Hill and Nina Kuchar fell behind after a 5-7 loss in the first set, then rallied to win the last two sets, 7-5, 6-1.

The No. 2 doubles win was a 6-1, 6-2 verdict for Sophie Keller and Kendall Temchack.

The singles winners included Leah Wadel at No. 1 (6-3, 6-1), Charlie Kalathas at No. 2 (6-0, 6-1) and Olivia Keller at No. 3 in a close match, 6-4, 6-4.

On Friday, Chambersburg (5-2) was defeated 4-1 in a non-league match by New Oxford. The only match that wasn’t really close was the Trojans’ only win, with Olivia Keller taking a 6-1, 6-2 win. The Colonials won two tiebreakers and two more 7-5 sets, and the least points scored in any set except Keller’s was 3 points.

Chambersburg 1, Gettysburg 1: The Trojans scored first, but the Warriors knotted it up and the Mid Penn Colonial game finished in a tie Monday afternoon at Trojan Stadium.

Josie Snavely put Chambersburg (1-2, 1-0-1 MPC) on the board, banking in a shot after a fine pass from the baseline by Natalie Fitz in the second quarter. Izzy Sites evened the score before halftime for Gettysburg.

“Gettysburg is a tough team with solid players all over the field,” Trojan coach Rachael Sanders said, “so I thought this was a a great test for us. It was a great showing from both teams and a really fitting way to celebrate National Field Hockey Day. It stayed intense all the way through regulation and into overtime.”

Chambersburg goalie Lacey Mooney made 13 saves, including several big saves in OT.

Sanders said, “We have been working a lot on team chemistry on the field and I thought that really showed today. Our forwards and midfielders got shots off and pushed the offensive, while our defense was solid and held things down in the back. Savannah (White), Amora (Lopez), Brooke (Mickey) and Ella (Sollenberger) had really strong games on the defensive line and helped us generate momentum from the back.”
