Chbg. Hall of Fame: Brooke Jacobs was a scoring machine

2026 CHAMBERSBURG HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE

For three-plus years, Mid Penn girls soccer teams – especially their defenses – had to be very anxious when they were preparing to play Chambersburg.

That’s because the Trojans fielded the best forward in the league, Brooke (Jacobs) Lombardozzi, and it was nearly impossible to keep her from scoring goals. “The Energizer Bunny,” as several opposing coaches described her, used her elite speed and quickness, a superior set of soccer skills and a relentless work ethic to find the net time after time.

Lombardozzi will be one of 9 individuals and one team to be inducted into the Chambersburg Athletic Hall of Fame on Sept. 18-19.

Other individuals are Norm Snowberger, Terri Yeager, Paul Kaiser, Carla (Shearer) Christian, Kellen Williams, Jack Mull, Steve Moore and Craig Helmuth, and the 1989 state champion girls cross country team. Stories on each of them will be published this summer.

Lombardozzi, who graduated in 2007, scored 75 goals in her career and added 24 assists, and at the time was the area’s all-time leading scorer. Her totals would have been even higher, but an ACL tear in the third game of her senior season ended her career early.

Here are some of her accolades:

  • In 2004, 2005 and 2006, Lombardozzi was a Public Opinion first team all-star; a Harrisburg Patriot Big 11 first-team pick; and a Mid Penn Commonwealth first-team selection
  • In 2005 and 2006, she was the Mid Penn Conference overall Player of the Year; an All-State choice; and was named to the NSCAA All-Region team

In a Penn-Live story in 2025, Lombardozzi was named one of the top 25 Mid Penn girls soccer players of the century.

She was also quite good in cross country, helping the Trojans to a PIAA runner-up finish in 2003, and District 3 titles in 2003 and 2005. Lombardozzi placed 12th in District 3 and 45th in states in 2003; 11th in District 3 and 32nd in states in 2004; and 12th in District 3 and 72nd in states in 2005.

Lombardozzi said her favorite memories from her CASHS years were running cross country and playing soccer as a freshman with her senior sister, Ashley; getting to wear the Blue and White and representing her school along with her good friends; getting second place as a team in X-C at states; and serving as the Color Day Queen in her senior year.

After graduating, Lombardozzi played at the University of South Carolina for four years, starting in 65 games and scoring 17 goals, with 14 assists. With the Gamecocks, she played in the NCAA Tournament all four years and at one point scored in three consecutive tournament games.

She married former Major League Baseball player Steve Lombardozzi Jr., and they have three kids – Wesley, Madison and Alexis.

“I thank my husband and my children, who keep me active and got me back on the soccer field as a coach,” Lombardozzi said.
