SoFo hangs on to defeat Meyersdale Raiders in Regular Season Finale

SF traveled to Meyersdale on Thursday  to take on the Meyersdale Raiders In a battle of District 5’s top two teams.  

SoFo (17-2, 6-2) got out to a 4-run lead in the seventh inning and held on for a 4-3 victory over the Raiders.  Meyersdale Raiders closed the gap by scoring on a double, a fly out, and a single.

The Indians got on the board in the top of the fifth inning after Paul Hendershot grounded out, scoring one run, and Brooks Norris doubled, scoring two runs.

Cam Cain earned the win for the Indians. The righty surrendered three hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out eight and walking two. Carter Vogt took the loss for Meyersdale Raiders. The hurler went five and two-thirds innings, surrendering three runs on eight hits, striking out two and walking two. Owen Oakman collected the save. Brooks Norris pitched 1.1 innings in relief for SoFo.

SoFo collected 10 hits in the game. Norris drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Indians with two runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-4 on the day. Colt Mann, Hendershot, and Oakman each collected two hits for SoFo. 

Matt Hainsworth, Spencer Whitfield, Lucas Brown, Nolan Lowery, and Aiden Thomas each collected one hit for Meyersdale Raiders. Whitfield, Brown, and Cole Yoder each drove in one run for Meyersdale.

SF regular season is concluded and the Indians await final seeding to begin the District 5 playoffs next week.  They will most likely have a round 1 bye on Tuesday, 22May then host the District 5 semifinal game on Friday, 22 May.
