SoFo (12-1, 3-1) took Tuesday’s game in dramatic fashion, with a 3-2 walk-off victory over the Claysburg-Kimmel Bulldogs at Southern Fulton Junior/Senior High School.
The game was tied at two in the bottom of the seventh when Paul Hendershot’s bases loaded single, scored the winning run.
Both teams were strong on the mound. SoFo pitchers struck out nine, while Claysburg-Kimmel sat down three.
Claysburg-Kimmel opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to back to back home runs by Mason Campagna and Brayden Haney.
SoFo captured the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the seventh after Colt Mann singled to center field scoring Brooks Norris making the score 2-1, Lincoln Hendershot singled to tie the game, and Paul Hendershot singled to right field, ending the game.
Mann earned the win for the SoFo Indians. The pitcher allowed zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out three and walking none. Brayden Haney took the loss for Claysburg-Kimmel Bulldogs. The starter went six and one-third innings, allowing three runs on four hits, striking out three and walking four. Cam Cain stepped on the mound first for SoFo Indians. The right-handed pitcher gave up five hits and two runs over five innings, striking out six and walking one.
L Hendershot, C Mann, Brooks Norris, P Hendershot, Brady Dressel, and Austin Mann each collected one hit for SoFo Indians. L Hendershot, Mann, and P Hendershot each drove in one run for SoFo Indians. SoFo Indians turned one double play in the game. SoFo Indians were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error.
Ayden Soler, Nathan Cox, Haney, Dustin Slowik, and Campagna each collected one hit for Claysburg-Kimmel Bulldogs.
SoFo Indians play at home on Thursday against Fannett Metal at 4:30pm.
